postdoctoral fellow
Dr. Daniel Tapia AKA, “DT” (as he is more commonly known by the lab) was born in Mexico but migrated to the warm and flat state of Texas where he became acquainted with kolaches, humidity, and science. DT received his BS in Molecular and Cell Biology from Texas A&M University, where he began his journey in science. DT when on to complete the Post Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) at the University of Texas in Galveston. There, he stayed on to complete his PhD in Microbiology and Immunology focusing on bacterial vaccines and understanding bacterial host-pathogen interactions. Currently, his research focuses in understanding how the innate immune response dictates protective vs. pathogenic responses and the subsequent consequences in downstream immune reactions.
When not in lab, DT is excited about spending time with friends and family, discovering new places, listening to/and performing music, and coming up with new Mezcal drinks!
